A semi-truck carrying more than 400 beehives crashed on Highway 20 near Island Park, Idaho spilling what crews called “a river of honey” across the roads, and releasing 14 million bees.

The swarms of bees were described as “black clouds” that kept the driver of the truck and rescue personnel trapped in their cars till they could don protective to combat the clouds of buzzing, stinging menaces.

While many of the bees were contained and killed by firefighting foam, Fire Chief Kenny Strandberg is now concerned that the incident may attract bears saying, “I am worried about the bears coming down now — the grizzly bears.”

According to sources the bees have a street value of three cents a piece making the  total value of the freed bees somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000.

Hmmm… three cents per bee.
